Liveaboard Diving Similan Surin Richelieu Rock Burma, Phuket Phi Phi Hin Daeng
The
Burma Banks & Mergui Archipelago
The Mergui Archipelago in the South of Myanmar (Burma) consists of literally hundreds of Islands, outcrops and reefs. The gateway to the archipelago is from Kawthoung (Victoria Point) on the south tip of Myanmar, a 30 minute boat trip from the Thai port of Ranong. With its unexplored tropical islands, deserted coves and bays fringed with white sandy beaches this region certainly presents a dive traveler the adventure of a lifetime.
Back in 1997 the Mergui Archipelago was slowly opened up to
foreigners for the first time in over fifty years. Trips to
these islands certainly have an exploratory feel with the
hundreds of new dive sites and visitors being amongst the
first foreign faces ever seen by local (Morgans) sea gypsies.
The Burma Bank's greatest attraction are the big fish
that roam in the deeper waters of the westernmost region.
Gray reef sharks, Leopard, black tip, White tips, Silvertips,
Nurse and Hammerheads with schools of Manta rays, Lavish gorgonian
sea fans and Giant groupers.
Burma Banks trip can be combined with
trip to Hin
Daeng/Hin Muang and/or Similan, Surin & Richelieu Rock trip.
